Tasty travels: Thai SELECT campaign spices up tourism

The joint Tourism Authority of Thailand and Commerce Ministry Travel, Taste, Thai Select campaign unveiling has taken place. This original project embodies the foundation of the sectoral development of the soft power strategy, where Thai SELECT quality restaurant chain becomes the spearhead of the promotion and lifts the position of Thai cuisine.

As Chief of Commercial Minister in the Campaign, Minister Napintorn Srisunpang is the campaign that focuses on the role of professionalism, hygiene, and authentic Thai cuisine. 

The initiative engages the partners to harness their individual combined resources and skills. It uses them to broaden the reach and impact of the initiative in the different target audiences.

Contemplating the development of new markets targeted at other provinces with high tourist crowds, the campaign will provide impetus for economic growth and generating incomes especially for the small-scale enterprises within the hospitality area.

Thai SELECT Certified Restaurants on the Rise

By March 14 this year, number of the Thai SELECT/certified restaurants became increased in reference to the department’s record from the Ministry of Commerce. 

Currently, the 370 of Thai Quality Restaurant Club has already spread across all of the country, symbolizing the prevalence of quality standards in Thai Cuisine’s fame.

The future of the eateries is predicted to have further growth as another 200 of them, especially in areas popular with tourists such as Chiang Mai and Phuket, are supposed to carry the certification label this coming year. This expansion show the vision of the campaign to persistently remaking culinary scene and making it more sense in the area.

The 1400 operating Thai SELECT restaurants abroad, with the campaign achieve influence beyond the borders. It could be seen as a global ambassador for Thai cuisine.

As revealed by Napintorn Srisunpang the Thai SELECT brand alphabet in Thai sums up the success becoming the symbol of Thai cuisine excellence, which then, gives recognition and trust for Thai dishes with foreign visitors. This all-round success stamps the seal of the Kingdom of Thailand as the wordly famous center of culinary arts.
