Heavy rain and high waves to hit 34 provinces in Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), a trusted authority in weather forecasting, has issued a warning for heavy rain affecting 34 provinces from today until tomorrow. There are potential risks of flooding and forest runoffs. Additionally, high waves exceeding 2 meters are expected at sea.

Rainy conditions are expected throughout the holiday, with the TMD proactively forecasting weather for today and tomorrow, July 28. A moderate southwest monsoon is currently influencing the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, along with a low-pressure system over northern Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin.

These weather patterns are predicted to bring thunderstorms and heavy rain to parts of Thailand.

Significant rainfall is particularly anticipated in the western areas of the northern and central regions. The Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will experience moderate winds, with wave heights reaching around 2 meters in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand and 1 to 2 meters in the lower Andaman Sea. Thunderstorm-prone areas could see waves exceeding 2 meters.

From today to tomorrow, a moderate monsoon trough will traverse the upper northern region and northern Laos, moving into the low-pressure area over north Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin.

The mild southwest monsoon will continue to impact the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, leading to increased rainfall and heavy showers in some parts of the country

. The upper northern and northeastern regions are expected to receive hefty rain. Sea conditions in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will remain moderate, with wave heights of 1 to 2 meters in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand and waves exceeding 2 meters in areas prone to thunderstorms.

The TMD advises residents in the affected areas to prepare for possible flooding and forest runoffs. Coastal residents and those involved in marine activities should exercise caution due to the high waves, especially in thunderstorm-prone areas.

The weather forecast also underscores the risks associated with the heavy rainfall, urging people in the affected provinces to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
