Surat Thani ex-engineer wins 30 million baht lottery
A former municipal engineering director from Surat Thani province struck gold, winning a whopping 30 million baht in the national lottery. The 61-year-old, residing in Nonthaburi since 1978, visited a local police station with his family to officially document their life-altering win on April 2.
Polkrit, the fortunate winner, accompanied by his 41-year-old wife, Jitchanamon, and their two daughters, presented the winning tickets bearing the number 803481 to authorities at Pak Kret Police Station. The family purchased the winning set of five tickets for the April 1 lottery draw and was astounded by their sudden windfall.
Their stroke of luck occurred while shopping at a Pak Kret mall. Polkrit, who rarely buys lottery tickets due to past disappointments, spotted his favored number on a ticket displayed by a vendor. Trusting his intuition, he purchased the tickets on the spot. Remarkably, the winning number matched his house number, influencing his spontaneous decision to buy a ticket that day.
Polkrit admitted he never anticipated winning, especially the top prize, given the slim odds. The unexpected victory brought immense joy to the family, albeit with a hint of disbelief. They plan to share some of the winnings with relatives and donate to charitable causes as a token of gratitude for their unforeseen luck.
The retired former director, now spending his days taking his children to school, jokingly mentioned owning a yellow Fortuner before the win and entertaining the idea of purchasing a smaller car of the same color to keep it company.
This extraordinary stroke of luck has transformed an ordinary family outing into a life-altering event, inspiring others to dream of what’s possible with a dash of luck and the right lottery ticket.
