A Thai comedian faces controversy as he prepares for monkhood amidst online criticism and debt allegations from a pickled crab seller. The decision to ordain follows a public dispute over unpaid debts, drawing condemnation from netizens and creditors.

The dispute unfolded on the talk show Hone Krasae, where the crab seller, Mae Poonah, confronted the comedian, Jukkabum, about unpaid dues for goods sold on consignment.

Despite attempts to collect the debt, Mae Poonah resorted to publicly shaming Jukkabum in a shopping mall. In response, Jukkabum filed a police report against the creditor, escalating the conflict.

Amidst backlash, Jukkabum sought advice from Rachen Trakulwiang, leader of the New Alternative Party, agreeing that ordination could bring peace amidst chaos. He expressed intent to settle debts before ordaining, planning to clear at least a portion of the outstanding amount.

The Facebook page Dawpadek Chak highlighted Jukkabum’s intention to ordain as a means to improve his image post-scandal.

Celebrities like Num Kanchai implied this was a new chapter in his life.

In a recent development, Parry Pirap emphasized that ordaining while in debt contradicts Buddhist doctrine, which prohibits individuals with debts from ordination.

This incident sparks discussions on ethics and religious sanctity. As Jukkabum prepares for monkhood, the community awaits resolution of the debts and restoration of reputation.
