Thai products flood Vietnam: Mini Thailand Week 2024

The third edition of Mini Thailand Week 2024 is underway in the coastal city of Ha Long, Vietnam, showcasing a plethora of Thailand’s premier goods. This event, integral to Thailand’s strategic endeavor to integrate its industries into Vietnam’s thriving economy, commenced on March 28 at the Centre of Planning Fair and Exhibition in Ha Long, Quang Ninh province, and will continue until March 31. With expectations of drawing a substantial crowd, organizers anticipate over 10,000 Vietnamese attendees.

Pornvit Sila-on, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), underscored Vietnam’s impressive economic advancement as a golden opportunity for Thai enterprises to explore.

He expressed optimism that the event would facilitate direct interaction between Thai business owners and Vietnamese consumers, with the objective of reinforcing Thailand’s position as Vietnam’s leading ASEAN trade partner.

Featuring a diverse range of Thai merchandise, including snacks, beverages, and daily necessities, the event welcomes representatives from 24 Thai SMEs, all eager to explore potential collaborations and avenues for market expansion.

Pornvit stressed the DITP’s unwavering commitment to assisting Thai SMEs in thriving on the global stage, with Vietnam serving as an ideal gateway.

Chalermchai Pornsiripiyakool, head of international corporate affairs at Central Retail Vietnam, emphasized the significance of comprehending Vietnamese consumer behavior, highlighting regional disparities in preferences and spending patterns. He advised SMEs to tailor their products and marketing strategies to resonate with local tastes and lifestyles.

Nikorndej Balankura, Thailand’s ambassador to Vietnam, hailed the event as a testament to the robust bilateral relations between the two nations, expressing aspirations to elevate bilateral trade to US$25 billion (approximately 912 billion baht) by 2025, as reported by The Nation.

Initiatives like Mini Thailand Week underscore a shared commitment to nurturing economic collaboration and prosperity between Thailand and Vietnam.

In other news, Vietnam’s rice exports are projected to decline in the current year, with estimates ranging between 6.5 and 7.0 million metric tonnes, a noticeable decrease from the previous year’s record high of 8.1 million tonnes, as reported by the Vietnam Food Association.
